A note on stopping
On the rarest of the three, and the one the work is built around.
There is a particular kind of tiredness that sleep does not touch. You wake from eight hours and feel as though you have negotiated all night. The body rested; something else did not.
Stopping is not the same as resting, and resting is not the same as being allowed to stop. The third one is the rarest. It is also the one the work is built around.
To stop is a decision. To be allowed to stop is a gift the body has to be given.
When nothing is being asked of you, not even relaxation, not even progress, the body finally has room to do the thing it has wanted to do all along. It exhales the breath it had been saving for an emergency that never came.
